Hello!! I am now nestled away in my new home in the mountains!! We are centrally located in the capital – Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Yes, it is beautiful.
(This is the view from the back of the property I live on)
(My little cozy abode for these first 3 months)
Zion’s Gates is the amazing ministry we will be working with during these first 3 months! We are living with Honduran teens and children…These kids have been pulled out of the street because a lot of them have been addicted to paint thinner and have bad habits simply because they do not have the means to create a healthy lifestyle. Tony, the owner, has created an environment for these kids to change their lives by instilling in them healthy habits such as chores, education, food, and a place to live to be loved on. Tony has an incredible heart for these people and their country. It is truly inspiring. I am ready to invest in the people, attempt to improve my Spanish (Hoping to become somewhat fluent..it is a lot easier to learn considering I have to speak it 24/7), and immerse myself in this culture as a lifestyle.

Building relationships and showing the hope and love of Jesus Christ is the main focus of Zion’s Gates. We are going to have a ton of different ministry opportunities…teaching English in schools all the way to living in a village for a week. I can not express how thankful I am for this opportunity God has given me and to simply be among these beautiful people. God has completely blown away all of my expectations and I could not be more excited!
On Monday, I will begin teaching 5th & 6th graders language arts for 2 weeks at a nearby school!
(There is where I get away and have quiet time/relax..love love my hammock)
Unfortunately, I do not have much access to Wi-Fi…I am able to get it when I go into the city. I will try my best to communicate and keep up with this blog to keep everyone in the loop! Thank you for all of your support.
**Please pray for no swollen feet…the area where my tent is located is in a lot of bush and my feet are having a reaction to it. Also, for strength, words, and a boldness to love and share my faith!
GOD BLESS.
BEST,
Andrea

Dear andrea,
It is great to hear from you. We are glad you are safe and will pray for the swollen feet. Try the pink benedryl pills to take the swelling down. We are so proud of you for your ministry in Honduras.

Andrea! Your adventure sounds so exciting. Thanks for sharing with us. Teaching LA sounds interesting, but good thing you have a great resource – your sister! Is this something you volunteered for or you were selected to do that? Do you get to work with anyone that is also on the trip?
Also, I love the pictures.
